JCVA (Jones Center Vocational Academics)
JCVA is an alternative program designed to meet the needs of students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out of high school. The program individualizes cirriculum focusing on each student's academic requirement for high school completion and vocational training.
The JCVA program works in partnership with Community Education. A certified teacher teaches and coordinates the program. Teacher assistants faciltate academic success and an Employment Specialist addresses vocational and transitional goals.
This program has the following components:
- Reintegration of students into the educational system
- Vocational and academic assessment
- Partnersips with adult service providers
- Linkages with post-secondary training and education
- Training in organizational skills
- Active student participation and accountability within a flexible program
