Extracurricular programs Kennedy participates in interschool sports in Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country, Wrestling, Track, Golf, and Soccer. Kennedy has a strong intramural program in sports, and chess. Students can participate in chorus, band, orchestra, drama, and dance as part of their regular class schedule.

School background Kennedy was opened in the fall of 1969. School boundaries begin at 4000 West and 3500 South, then west to 5200 West, then south to 4100 South, then west to 5400 West, then south to 4700 South, then west to the D & RGW Railroad tracks, then southeast along the tracks to 4985 South, then east to 4620 West, then north to 4955 South, then east to 4420 West, then north to 4715 South, then east to 4000 West. Students who live beyond 2 miles of the school, are provided school bus transportation. Kennedy has a student population between 1,200 and 1,300 students and is one of the largest junior high schools in the district. Our student population is expected to stay the same during the next five years.
Enrollment Kennedy serves about 1,100 students.
Computers and Technology Kennedy has a computer network system that is accessed by every classroom in the building. The Media center is a central lab that can be used by all students for research, with access to online information and many other library systems. The school has a series of labs throughout the building designed to enhance the curriculum.
Student promotion Kennedy students advance to Hunter and Granger High Schools.
