                      Formative Evaluation Process & Timeline

The purpose of formative evaluation is to improve professional practice.  All educators participate yearly, including their summative year.  It involves the following:

     • Setting professional improvement goals by every educator.
     • Determining if educators are making progress toward meeting their professional improvement goals.

During the formative evaluation process the educator will participate in the following four areas:

Time Line:
May - August

Preparing Goals
• Receiving Professional Growth & Evaluation orientation
• Completing Self-Assessment Worksheet
• Identifying goals related to standards
• Deciding the lines of evidence (data) that will best measure progress toward meeting goals

July - September

Setting Goals
• Discussing goals and lines of evidence with supervisor
• Determining goals related to standards
• Completing side one of Formative Evaluation Conference form (Professional Growth Plan)

October - March

Working on Goals
• Gathering data
• Assessing progress

April - June

Achieving Goals
• Reviewing goal completion and lines of evidence
• Completing side two of Formative Evaluation Conference form (Goal Review)
• Evaluating progress toward meeting goals with supervisor
