Course Description

CLOTHING I—This course introduces students to basic sewing and pressing equipment, textiles, introductory level project construction techniques, and techniques for constructing edge finishes.


CLOTHING II—This course introduces students to basic sewing, serger, and pressing equipment, reviews the types of fabric construction, makes an intermediate level project using correct construction techniques. Prerequisite: Clothing I must precede Clothing II

Core Standards of the Course

Standard 1 Students will identify basic sewing equipment.

Standard 2 Students will identify basic pressing equipment.

Standard 3
Students will identify the characteristics and care of specific textiles.

Standard 4
Students will follow the pattern envelope and guidesheet to compete the pre-construction skills at the introductory level.

Standard 5 Students will complete construction techniques at the introductory level.

Standard 6 Students will implement the various, basic construction techniques.

Standard 7 Students will review and identify basic sewing, serger, and pressing equipment.

Standard 8 Students will review and identify types of fabric construction.

Standard 9 Students will complete pre-construction techniques at the intermediate level.

Standard 10
Students will complete correct construction techniques at the intermediate level.
