Lines of Evidence

Lines of evidence is the data that educators gather to demonstrate that goals or standards are being met.  Each educator will use three lines of evidence.

One line of evidence will be selected by the educator.
The lines of evidence are required as follows:

     • Professional learning - part of the license renewal process
     • Educator observation - formal observation is required as part of the summative evaluation

Lines of evidence should be directly connected to the determined goal.  Lines of evidence that may be selected include:
     • Student achievement
     • Anecdotal data
         Committee work
         Portfolios
         Recommendations/commendations/letters
         Reflective journals
    • Surveys/ratings
    • The educator may choose other appropriate lines of evidence

The supervisor may choose to require a particular line of evidence in the formative or summative cycle.

Printed in this section of your participant manual are forms and a sample letter that may be used for lines of evidence.
