School Programming
Each school must have a program that is designed to meet the unique needs of students who are academically gifted and talented. Students who are "gifted and talented" are those who meet the definition and assessment procedures adopted by the Granite Board of Education.
Each school's program must offer a continuum of services that include Talent Development, Differentiation for Gifted and Talented within the Regular Classroom, Specialized Academic Grouping and a Specialized Academic School Program. Schools must use a collaborative approach when developing a continuum of services for gifted and talented students. This must include involvement of an array of representatives, which should include the principal, regular education teachers, gifted education teachers, counselors, parents and could include others who have an interest and will build a good foundation for gifted and talented programming.
School decisions must be research-based and flexible in both program development and individual student programming. Plans must be in accordance with District guidelines and approved by Program Services. | |
