School background The school is in the west central area of the Granite School District. Built in 1975, the new Plymouth replaced the old Plymouth Elementary, which was located on the corner of 4800 South and Redwood Road. Our present location on Canal Road is directly east of Taylorsville High School. Originally, the new Plymouth was an open-pod school, but has been closed in to create self-contained classrooms. 2004-2005 is the first year back on the Traditional 9 month Trimester calendar, after years of being a year-round school. All students living within 1.5 miles of the school, walk, with the exception of those who live south of 5400 South. These students have to cross a hazardous intersection, so they are bused.
Enrollment Plymouth serves approximately 550 students.
Computers and Technology The school has a main computer lab with 30 stations with internet access. The 5th/6th grade math teacher has his own 30 station classroom lab that he has built and uses with his math students. There is another 20 station lab that we have built and use with our 5th/6th graders to incorporate the use of technology into their curriculum. There is a lab that the lower grades use as they learn keyboarding skills and do their YPP testing. Computers are in every classroom and many teachers have a district provided 'mini-lab' of 5 lap top computers.
Student promotion Students promoted from Plymouth will attend Eisenhower Junior High and Taylorsville High. | | |
