A RESOLUTION
OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF GRANITE SCHOOL DISTRICT
ENCOURAGING SUPPORT
OF AN
UNDIVIDED GRANITE SCHOOL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the size of the
student enrollment of Granite School District supports student opportunities,
such as the Granite Technical Institute, model elementary school, Hartvigsen
Center, Jones Center, gifted magnet schools, reading specialists, music
specialists, intervention programs, etc.; and
WHEREAS, the size of the
student enrollment of Granite School District allows for the leveraging of
educational funds resulting in curriculum supports for students and educators as
well as professional learning opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the size and diversity
of the student population of Granite School District makes the district
attractive to governmental agencies, universities, businesses and other entities
seeking to invest in and partner with public schools; and
WHEREAS, the size of the
student enrollment of Granite School District provides flexibility and
opportunities as well as stability in the event of population fluctuations for
educators, making the district competitive in providing a superior educational
infrastructure and recruiting and retaining excellent educators; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Education
is committed to establishing a culture of listening and responding to patrons,
municipalities and other stakeholders; strengthening and collaborating with
community councils; and providing timely and accurate information at all levels
within the school district.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of
Education of Granite School District encourages parents, patrons, municipal,
county, and state leaders to support an undivided Granite School District and
its ability to provide students with services, opportunities and supportive
infrastructure which are uniquely available and in great variety and breadth
because of the size and diversity of the district’s student enrollment.
