COGNOS Help
* How can I (or a designated staff member) get trained on how to use COGNOS?
COGNOS training classes are scheduled near the beginning of each school year and thereafter as needed. They are aimed at the new user as well as those who need a refresher course. Email notification is sent to all district administrators when classes are scheduled. If training is needed but none is currently scheduled, contact the Information Systems department for help.
* Is there a manual for additional help?
A comprehensive manual is available for download from the Internet at the following location: http://www.granite.k12.ut.us/Cognos/cognos.htm. The current manual is COGNOS (PowerPlay) Version 7.
Website Help
* Does our school need a website?
The district encourages all of our schools to have a website to promote school/community interaction and communication.
* What do we need to get started?
You will need to designate a staff member to be your school's webmaster. Usually this is someone who already has some web design experience or who desires to get trained. If no one is available, contact Information Services for further suggestions and alternatives.
* What are the responsibilites of the webmaster?
The webmaster not only creates pages, but is the "point person" for others to go to if they have web pages to post to your site on the Internet. He/she will be the only person in your school authorized to access the district web server.
* Are there district guidelines to follow in creating and/or maintaining our website?
YES! There are important content and student security issues to be considered. Go to GSD Webpage Guidelines.
* What if we need more help?
Contact Information Systems (646-4509) for help with any of your website needs .
