Lunch schedule
Classes eat on a rotating schedule beginning at 11:30 each day.
Registration
Beginning year registration is held the 2nd week of August and as new
students move into the area.
Extracurricular programs
An after school program is available at a nominal fee which provides both
academic and enrichment classes. Students can also participate on the CARE Team
student council, the safety patrol or as a part of the MESA program.

School background
Silver Hills is located by the USSANA Amphitheatre and overlooks the West Ridge
Golf Course. It was opened in 1986 to serve the growing population in the
Kearns area. Seven district buses are used to transport students to the school
from the surrounding areas. The school has 34 full sized classrooms, 3 resource
rooms, 2 full computer labs, and houses a district nurse.
Enrollment
Silver Hills currently serves over 900 students from preschool through 6th
grade from various backgrounds including about 54% Caucasian, 35% Hispanic, 4%
Asian, 3% Pacific Islanders, 1% Native American and African American. Beginning
in the 2009-2010 school year a little over half of our student population will
move to the district’s new school, Diamond Ridge.
Computers and technology
Every classroom at Silver Hills is equipped with Enhanced Technology which
includes a surround sound system used in daily instruction and a computer
projector. Students also have access to computers with at least 3 per
classroom. Additionally both computer labs have SmartBoard technology available
to support instruction.
Students promotion
Student promoted from Silver Hills attend either Jefferson or Kennedy Junior
High the on to Kearns or Hunter High Schools.
