                        up to 2 folding chairs

                        up to 2 dictionaries

Guidelines:

Use the tape and track pieces to create your rollercoaster, with (if you want) craft sticks, chairs and dictionaries as supports. Teams can either tape the pieces of track directly on the wall or can start their first piece of track using the wall and extend the rest across the. Teams are allowed to bring diagrams to help them build their rollercoasters.

Rules and Judging:

1.      Each team will have 15 minutes to build their rollercoaster.

2.      Each rollercoaster must earn at least 30 design points as follows:

            Ramp = 5 points

            Hill = 7 points

            Loop = 8 points

            Jump = 10 points

3.      The end of the rollercoaster will be the point at which the marble stops or falls off the track. Any remaining track will not be counted for design points or tie breaker points. Marble running time will also end at that point.

4.      Each team will have three trials. Teams will have up to one minute to adjust the track between trials.

5.      The marble must be started at the edge of the first track.

6.      Teams can not touch or support their rollercoaster during testing. The rollercoaster can be supported by craft sticks, chairs, dictionaries, the walls and the floor.

7.      The team with the most design points will win.

8.      In case of a tie, the team that uses the most pieces of track will win. If there is still a tie, the team with the longest marble running time will win.
