Extracurricular programs Safety Patrol School background Stansbury Elementary is located in the west-central area of Granite School District. It was built in 1964 to serve the growing population of West Valley City. It serves a diverse socioeconomic community. All students live with 1.5 miles and are able to walk to school. Enrollment Stansbury Elementary serves approximately 780 students from Preschool to Sixth Grade. Approximately 36% are Caucasian. 2% Native American. 3% Asian. 9% Pacific Islanders. 45% Hispanic Latino, and 3% African American. Computers and technology Stansbury Elementary has two 35-station computer labs, a project lab, and one dedicated to testing, as well as computer learning centers in classrooms. Every classroom is enhanced with projectors and sound systems, placing the resources and power of the Internet and technology conveniently in the hands of teachers. Students use the core curriculum-based Acuity program to test math benchmarks as well as Yearly Progress Pro to monitor learning achievement. Students who are acquiring English as a second language use the Imagine Learning program to assist them. After school programs using technology include tutoring with the Sucessmaker program and Cyber Corps, a computer club for fifth and sixth graders. In the 21st century, computer literacy will be vital. Stansbury staff and faculty are enthusiastic in helping our students acquire the technology skills they will need to succeed in secondary education and in their lives.
