School mission statement: The mission of Valley Crest Elementary School is to provide equal educational opportunities in a safe environment to all students.  This mission includes developing academic, technological, and social skills, as well as fostering successful and productive students and families, and preparing them for lifelong learning in a global society.  Valley Crest is a Community of Caring school where the universal values of caring, trust, respect, and family are lived and taught. School background Valley Crest is located in the northwest area of Granite School District. It was built in 1985 to serve the growing population of West Valley City. The school boundaries are: 4600 West to 5600 West, and 2100 South to 3500 South and a pocket at 3600 West to 4000 West and 2100 South to 3100 South.  Students who live farther than 1.5 miles from the school are bused. Enrollment Valley Crest Elementary serves approximately 840 students from K-6 grade. Approximately: ·  35% Caucasian ·  42% Hispanic ·  11% Asian ·  7% Pacific Islander ·  4% African American ·  1% Native American Computers and Technology Valley Crest has a full time Systems Technology Specialist (STS).  The STS provides additional assistance to teachers and students with the integration of core curriculum and technology.  In addition to our instructional lab, Valley Crest has a testing computer lab where students participate weekly in Yearly Progress Pro (YPP), an online formative assessment, providing immediate feedback to students and teachers.  Valley Crest also uses the testing lab for end of the year online Criteria Reference Testing (CRT) in 3rd through 6th grades.  Students and teachers have computers with internet access in each classroom.  Student promotion Students promoted from this school will attend West Lake or Hunter Junior High and Granger or Hunter High School.
