Who will be evaluated on this new system?
All licensed educators will be evaluated using the "Granite School District Standards for Educators".
How is a provisional educator's evaluation process different than a career educator's evaluation process?
Provisional educators receive two summative evaluations a year during each of the first three years of service. Career educators receive summative evaluations consistent with the license renewal cycle unless there is concern about their performance, then they too may receive more frequent summative evaluations. All educators participate in formative evaluation procedures each year.
How do I determine what goals I need to work on?
Educators complete the self-assessment and then decide what would most help them to improve professionally. (Goals must be related to standards.) Then the goals are discussed with a supervisor and signed by both educator and supervisor.
How do I present my lines of evidence to my supervisor?
|
Lines of evidence will be determined at the goal setting meeting with the supervisor. At that time it should be decided what documents will be used to collect the data for the lines of evidence. Some documents might not be known at that time (e.g. letters, awards, etc.) but can certainly be added during the goal review meeting. This will be individually determined. |
Do I have to use the provided forms for my lines of evidence?
Forms are provided to help educators collect lines of evidence. Other kinds of documents may be used. Granite School District survey forms should be used as provided. If educators want to collect other kinds of information through questionnaires, those might be included in a portfolio.
How does evaluation fit with student achievement plans, licence renewal and professional development?
The Granite District Professional Growth and Evaluation Plan is designed with the same time line for educators as their licence renewal cycle. It is intended that educators will set goals for improvement that fit with site achievement plans and that professional development in the school will help educators to achieve their improvement goals.
What happens if standards are not met?
It is the responsibility of the supervisor to inform an educator that they are not meeting standards. Career educators will then be placed on a corrective discipline plan. Provisional educators will either be given an opportunity to improve or not have contracts renewed.
Does my supervisor determine the outcome of my evaluation?
The evaluation process is a joint effort between educators and supervisors. Both must sign formative and summative evaluation documents. The educator has the opportunity to note on the form or attach and explanation if they do not agree with the evaluation. However, it is the responsibility of supervisors to determine if standards are being met.
Who is responsible for completing necessary documentation?
During formative evaluation years, it is the educator. During summative evaluation, it is both the educator and the supervisor.
