Family Center We have a Family Center where we teach classes about parenting, English skills, crafts, home work help, etc. Our coordinator, Aleida Velazquez, is available in the morning to assist you. Check in at the office. |
School background Farnsworth Elementary is located in the west-central area of Granite School District. The school was completed in 1966 to serve the growing population of West Valley City and the building was remodeled in 1996, with grounds and water upgraded in 2003. Present school boundaries begin at the center of 3500 S and 4000 W, then W to 4400 W, then S to 4300 S, then E to 3800 W, then N to 4100 S. then W to 4000 W. then N to 3500 S, the point of beginning. Farnsworth is a walking school.
Enrollment Farnsworth elementary school serves approximately 720 students Kindergarten through sixth grade. We have two half-day preschool classes which serves four-year-old students. Our population looks like this:

Computers and technology Many fourth, fifth, and sixth grade classrooms are eMINTS rooms. We have two computer labs where students practice skills, create projects and take assessments. We use Imagine Learning in our computer lab to teach our English Language Learners the skills they need to build their English.
Extracurricular programs Farnsworth Fantastic After School club provides a snack, tutoring and enrichment activities Monday – Thursday. The club is over at 5:30 p.m. The after school club is funded by a 21st Century grant written in collaboration with the West Valley CEP. We have tutoring for ELL students before school. We also provide English classes for parents before and after school.
Student promotion Students in this area attend with Kennedy Junior High or Valley Junior High. Our high school is Granger high. |
