School background Woodrow Wilson was rebuilt as part of the Granite Education Center in 2005. The original Woodrow Wilson was opened in 1925. Wilson is a culturally diverse Title I school serving refugees and students from over 25 countries.
Enrollment Approximately 650 students K – 6 attend Woodrow Wilson. Two full day kindergarten and three half day sessions of kindergarten are offered. In addition, 4 sessions of preschool for 3 and 4 year old children are offered.
Computers and Technology An instructional/workstation computer lab is available for instruction on a daily basis. Students also participate in a weekly YPP computer math and reading assessment. All classrooms have additional computer workstations. All students in grades 4 - 6 participate in the eMINTS technology program.
Awards and Distinctions
- District model school in technology and best teaching practices
- eMINTS technology in grades 4 – 6, plus a 32 station portable lab and a 34 station Title I lab. Imagine Learning, a technology program for English Language learners, is offered in labs and classrooms
- Home of Granite’s Excel Winner and Teacher of the Year for 2010
- Achieved Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) quotas since CRT testing began in 2003
- Recipient of a Beverly Sorensen Art grant – all students participate in an annual art festival
- All 5th graders participate in Ballet West instruction and performance
- All 3rd graders participate in Children’s Dance Theatre instruction and performance
