Churchill Jr. High students hit the pavement in decades-old 5K fun run

The neighborhood surrounding Churchill Junior High served as an ideal running track for hundreds of students sprinting to support their school.

Churchill’s annual 5K Fun Run began back in 1977 and has been running strong ever since. The event pulls together the resources of school staff, parent groups, and community organizations.

“The main point is to promote health awareness and increase community ties with the school,” said Churchill Assistant Principal Trent Hendricks. “It has been, and continues to be, a community event that brings the parents, students and faculty together in support of our school.”

This year’s 5K saw students don costumes for the race.
