This 24’ diameter yurt provides a primitive winter camping experience for up to 8 people. It contains bunk beds, a wood burning stove for heat, 2 burner propane stove for cooking and table & chairs. Firewood and chemical toilet facilities are also provided nearby.
The yurt is located in the Uinta Mountains at an elevation of 8,900 feet; sixty miles southeast of Salt Lake City, Utah at the Granite School District Mill Hollow Outdoor Education Center.
The yurt is available for use year-round. The site can be reached by private vehicle June through September for hiking, bicycling and other outdoor activities. In winter and early spring the Yurt can be reached by snowmobiling, cross country skiing or snow-shoeing from the Nobletts trailhead parking lot 6 miles below the center.
How to make a reservation:
Reservations may be made by phone or in person at the Mill Hollow Office in Salt Lake City. The office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Mon-Friday. The $100.00 per night reservation fee may be made with cash or check and must be received to confirm your reservation.
An adult member of the party who will be staying at the yurt must make the reservation and will become the permit holder. The permit holder will be responsible for the terms and conditions of the permit. A copy of a current homeowner's or renter's insurance policy is required. Reservation fees are non-refundable. Please be prepared to pay a $200.00 refundable security deposit by separate check or credit card when picking up the key. The yurt key may be picked up at the Mill Hollow office the day prior to your trip or on Friday for weekend trips. Checkout time is 12:00 noon.
