Third Grade Disclosure Statements….Mrs. Black's Room 118 Classroom Rules:
Classroom Rewards and Consequences:
FERPA It is important for children's self-concept to display their work in class and in the hallway. Occasionally we correct each others work or share in finishing an assignment. Students help in passing back work and projects. As your child's teacher I request that you allow your children's work to be displayed. I also request permission for your child to help pass back work or check another child's papers. Please sign below if it is okay for your child to participate. Supplies…. I have provided everything your child needs in this classroom. Please help the supplies stay at school. Please remind your child to leave all toys and other supplies at home because our desks and tote trays are already full. Homework: Your child is expected to read 20 minutes every night. Your child is expected to study for the spelling test that we take on Fridays. The test is full sentences. Any unfinished daily work should be taken home each night to finish for the next day. Each day your child will put on his planner any work that needs to be finished. Please remember to sign your child's planner each day. Reading Each week your child will bring home his/her book to read one story to someone out loud. You will receive a post-it-note to sign. Please have your child participate in the Hooked on Books reading program sponsored by the school and the library. It is always a great thing to visit the Library regularly and get a fresh set of books to keep your child interested in reading. Math: We will use a lot of hands on manipulatives in third grade. We will keep a math journal. Please take the opportunity to keep an eye on our journals as they grow. We will have lots and lots of fun in math this year. Please talk to your child about what we do in math. Have them explain things to you it will make them smarter. Spelling: Our spelling work takes us four days to finish. On the fifth day we take a test. Your child will receive a new set of sentences on Monday (or the first day of the week) we will take our test on the fifth day after they get the new list. On the first day we copy the test sentences, on the second day we write sentences of our own about the word, on the third day we do the book questions, on the fourth day we do the words in cursive….then we take the test. Bathroom Policy Your child will be given bathroom cash. Any unused cash will be used to shop out of the treasure box. Your child will need to sign in and sign out in the bathroom book. (School Policy) Rotation: Your child will be rotating into the other third grade classes for Science, Social Studies, 6 trait writing, and phonics. It should be exciting!
*I have read this disclosure statement and I also give my permission to have my child's work displayed, corrected by someone other than the teacher occasionally and I give permission for my child to pass back work and projects for his/her teacher.
