Homework Policy:

To help your child have a successful learning experience this year the following activities should be worked on every night, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Your child will have a folder to put their paper in. This folder will go home with them each night. If extra homework has been assigned or daily work has not been finished, it will go home as homework to be finished and returned the next day. If a child is absent for an extended time, more time will be provided to finish the work missed. A homework session should not last longer than thirty minutes.

READING: Read out loud to an adult each school night for 15 to 20 minutes.

SPELLING: A spelling list goes home Friday of each school week. The list will be on bright yellow paper. It will be the words for the next week. Practice the words every evening. A spelling test will be given on Friday, or the last school day of the week.

MATH: Work on math concepts your child is working on at school. Use flash cards or other materials to help your child understand the skills of math.

HANDWRITING: Practice letters, spelling words, or reading vocabulary. Stress the best way to hold the pencil and paper. Stress the correct size and spacing of each letter.

Birthdays:

Your child is welcome to bring a treat to share with the class on his/her birthday. This treat needs to be obtained at a store. (Birthdays that occur over breaks will be celebrated the week before we go off track). We will celebrate in class by making cards and singing.

Ferpa Issues:

I plan to post students' work on the walls. I will only display work that the student agrees to share. This work will not have the student's name on the front. I will keep students' grades and scores private. I believe that each student has a right to privacy with regards to his/her work. If you would like further information, please talk to me.
