THURSDAY NOTE
October 8, 2009
NO ANIMALS ALLOWED AT SCHOOL
- We need to make it clear that no pets are
allowed
at school. Either in the morning when
dropping off students or after
school
when picking up students or in the classroom for show and tell. No pet
period. The reason is because we have many students
with severe allergies and
phobias. It is also a health concern. Thank you for your cooperation.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS - The school music department is asking for
your help.
They
are in desperate need of musical instruments.
If you have any
instruments
that you are no longer using and would like to donate them,
please
bring them to the school, even if they are in need of repair. The
District
can repair these at no cost. Please
help!
COOKIE DOUGH FUND RAISER - The fund raiser orders and money are due
back
on October 16th for B, C, and D Tracks. For A Track they are due back
on
October 20th. All orders will
be ready for pick up on Wednesday,
November
18th. We appreciate your
support.
DISTRICT OPEN HOUSE AT CYPRUS - The District has scheduled open houses for
the
Bond
Proposal throughout the district at each network High School. The Cyprus
Network meeting regarding the Bond Proposal will be
held on October 21st from
6:00
- 8:00 p.m. at Cyprus High School (8623 West 3000 South) - in the Breeze way.
Please
attend for more information.
PTA “REFLECTIONS” CONTEST - The theme for
Reflections this year will be
“Beauty is...” and the categories are:
Literature,
Musical Compositions, Photography, Visual Arts, Choreography, Film/Video,
Theater, and Three Dimensional Art. Utah
rules limit one entry per category, per child.
For rules and forms go to www.utahpta.org/individual.htm (Look under
“downloads for parents and students”). The due date for entries
will
be Thursday, October 22nd.
BOX TOPS - Please send
your Box Tops to school again for our annual contest. The rules will
be the same this year: One point per Box Top, two points
for each trimmed Box Top, and
a bag of 50 is worth an additional 5 points for your
classroom. We will also accept milk
lids, and Tyson labels.
We are NOT doing soup labels this year. Thanks for your help.
TURN YOUR KEY - BE IDLE
FREE - The Salt Lake County, the State of Utah, and the State
Board of Education have joined forces to combat air
pollution generated by idling automobiles,
trucks, and buses.
We are asking that drivers turn their engines off when they expect to be
waiting in the car for longer than ten seconds. By turning your engine off when waiting, you
will:
•
SAVE MONEY - by
reducing fuel use.
•
BREATHE EASIER - by
preventing unhealthy exhaust from building up in and around your car.
•
PROTECT BLUE SKY - by
reducing idling emissions that contribute to smog.
10 seconds of idling uses more fuel
than restarting your engine!
