General Information Principal - Verneita Hunt School Calendar - Traditional nine-month trimester schedule Grade Levels - Kindergarten through sixth grade School times - Classes begin at 8:35 am and end at 3:20pm. Most Fridays classes are dismissed at 1:15pm. Registration - Registration is conducted during the third week of August, 7:30 am to 10:30 am. School motto - Cottonwood Elementary, the Right Key to Utah's Future School Background - Cottonwood Elementary is located in the east-central area of Granite School District. It was built in 1960. Most students live within 1.5 miles and are able to walk to school. School Staff - The school has a staff of 20 teachers, one reading specialist, one resource teacher, one librarian, one psychologist, one lunch supervisor, two secretaries, a custodian, and a principal. Our itinerant and part time staff includes a speech therapist, ESL teacher, instrumental music teachers, instructional assistants and sweepers. Enrollment - Cottonwood Elementary serves approximately 520 students from kindergarten through sixth grade. Class size - Average class size school wide is 27 students. We make every attempt to maintain lower enrollment in our primary grades as literacy instruction is so important for our students. |

· A different value is emphasized each month at Cottonwood. Teachers and PTA plan activities to teach and support the value. · Students are nominated monthly as Caring Citizens and are spotlighted by the PTA and enjoy a limo lunch with the principal. · Caring coupons are given by teachers and staff to students who demonstrate caring behaviors at school. These coupons may be used for classroom incentives. |
