After the usual morning routine of hanging up our backpacks and taking attendance, we went to reading. In Ms. Stott's class first we did Daily Language. Then we talked about the book Maniac McGee. She gave us a worksheet on identifying action and linking verbs. After that we went to recess. The weather today was spectacular. The fall leaves are so beautiful and colorful. I sat by the yellow storage container (with the hand prints) and watched cars passing the school and I watched kids playing on the playground. I noticed kids playing four square, jump rope, raptor tag, and I saw kids playing keep away with a 6th grader's hat. A lot of kids just walk around and talk at recess. We returned to our reading classes after recess.

Today was the Sixth Grade Wax Museum. This is an activity that the 6th graders do every year. One year my friend was Marie Antoinette for the wax museum. This year I saw: two Taylor Swifts, Oprah Winfrey, two Abraham Lincolns, Mr. Hershey, Queen Elizabeth and Miley Cyrus. There were many other great characters, too!

We went to the computer lab today also. We did our YPP reading and language assessments. Most kids did "My Access" when they finished their YPP.

I got the corn dog for lunch, but didn't feel well enough to finish it. At lunch recess I played wall ball with some friends. The bell rang too soon! When we got inside from recess we had to put away our reading materials and get out our math materials. We changed classes for math. In math, the first thing we did was take a timed multiplication facts test. Next we graded our math book paper. Ms. Stott used her best "scary witch" voice on me and Miles because we didn't have our homework. The kids all laughed.

After all the work in 5th grade, we were glad that it was recess time again! I waited, but I didn't get a turn this recess at wall ball. So, this recess seemed long and the bell took forever to ring.

When we got inside, Mackenzie's wonderful mom did Art Start with us. We learned about tessellations. It is really cool how shapes can fit together. I made mine a cute goldfish shape tessellation. We took our tessellations home to finish and color.

We packed up, put our chairs up on our desks and said goodbye to friends and went outside at 3:20 pm for our rides home.
