September
2, 2010 I knew it would be another great day in 5th grade when we walked in and hung our backpacks up. So we sat down waiting for instructions. The first thing we did today was cursive, both Thursday and Friday assignments. It was pretty fun. We did the letters s, t, u, v, w, x, y and z; then we wrote the words years, amazing, quiet and windows. Lastly we copied a poem called In Just. When that was finished we listened to the first Miller Cast. The poem that we did on Miller Cast was called I Am. The whole class wrote a poem about themselves. Everybody had a good time. Next, the people that do band or orchestra went down to the gym. I am a trombone player. We learned how to play our fist note; E. It was E-asy. When we got back we filled out our planners and Mrs. Miller read a book called Marry-Go-Round. It is a book about nouns. It had such beautiful pictures. It rhymed too. Mrs. Miller paused every couple of pages to talk about something. First she talked about her daughter working with alligators and then, the funniest part, Blue Footed Bubis!! (Hee Hee Hee) When that was over we did a sentence worksheet and went to recess. Madison, Halley, Julian, Ashley and I played 4-square. All too soon the bell rang and we came inside. We started on a new thing called School Comprehension, then a math worksheet and the part we were all looking forward to: Mrs. Miller read Nightmare Mountain. She stopped on a tense part when Gleneden’s uncle got him and tried to stop the police. Bucky bit Gleneden’s uncle’s leg the exact time the police shot. The bullet hit Bucky. Mrs. Miller stopped reading right there. All of the class was yelling “No! No! Go on!” But Mrs. Miller said it was time for lunch. I ate a yummy lunch and then went to recess. When we came in from recess we did this thing called the Time Capsule. The idea was that you put all about you in this envelope. (How tall you are, what you like etc.) We gave it to Mrs. Miller and she will give it back at the end of the year. So we can see how we changed over the year. Following, we did Self- Start and Mrs. Miller said to study for the test that will be on Friday. Then recess one more time. After
recess was over we came inside and all three 5th grade classes came into
our room to watch a movie called the Star Spangled Banner. It was a wonderful
movie about how we got our National Anthem. After it was over the classes
left, we got our stuff, lined up and waited for the bell to ring. When
it did we were all out the door! It was another great day at Mrs. Miller’s
5th grade class. |
