Dear Millcreek Families,
Thanks for your patience with the early release today. We have some additional information we wanted to share with you. At approximately 1:15 pm today, school staff became aware of some moisture collating on an area near one of the relocatables. The school notified district maintenance officials who were on scene promptly and quickly determined that there was some sort of blockage on the sewer line leaving the school. This blockage was causing the pipe to leak moisture into the soil which seeped up to the surface. This took several more minutes to ascertain and it was determined that restrooms and water should be shut down at that time. Based on the initial information, it was thought that the line could be cleared rather quickly, but after several efforts, it became clear that without access to restrooms and running water, that we would need to dismiss school early for the day. We drafted those communications and alerted our families as soon as possible.
We are appreciative of the efforts from district maintenance officials to get to the school and diagnose the problem. They have now cleared the line and cleaned up and sanitized the impacted area of the property where the leak collated. School will be able to proceed as normal. Thanks again for your patience and support as we work to keep our students and staff safe.
Have a nice evening
