School Discipline Program

PROGRAM RULES

I will not harm myself, others or my environment.

I will respect and follow authorized adult guidance at all times.

When given a STOP AND GO, I will leave the classroom silently within 30 seconds and immediately go to the designated location.

CONSEQUENCES

The rules, consequences, and rewards are in force when students are involved in ANY school sponsored activity.

STOP AND THINK

Students will silently go to a STOP AND THINK area in their classroom, or in the location where they received the STOP AND THINK when they have been directed to do so by the supervising adult. Students must go silently within 5 seconds of the direction. They will remain there a period not to exceed 5 minutes.

STOP AND GO

Following two(2) STOP AND THINK opportunities, if the student does not modify his/her behavior, the student will be given a STOP AND GO. The student will silently take a STOP AND GO form and their work to a designated location within 30 seconds of the STOP AND GO direction. The student will remain under the supervision of the STOP AND GO teacher for a period of ½ hour.

CHILD/PARENT/SUPERVISOR CONFERENCES

If a student obtains three (3) STOP AND GO opportunities within one week, a conference will be scheduled with the child, parent, and school personnel to discuss modification of the child's behavior intervention plan. Discipline up to and including suspension from school will be discussed during the conference.

SERIOUS OFFENSES

Serious behaviors that endanger students or adults will be handled under the Granite District Safe Schools Policy.

REWARDS

Monthly activities for NO STOP AND GO, Extra computer time, Extra Recesses, Special Activities, Teacher Assistant Opportunities.

This behavior program will be modified upon appropriate notification of staff, parents, and students. I understand that I may request information or a conference by calling for an appointment at 964-7925.
