February

During the month of February we will be celebrating two special days. On February 10th, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. We will be making chains of 100, singing, counting, writing, having a special treat...all fun things that center around the number 100. On February 14th, we will be celebrating Valentine's Day. Your child will be making a Valentine bear bag at school to collect his/her valentine cards. Your child can bring his/her valentine cards to put in classmates bags any day from February 8th -14th.

Reading: We will continue to turn over more letter cards and practice listening for the new letter sounds at both the beginning and end of words. Watch for Jj, Ff, Uu, Xx, and Zz. Ww and Kk are coming up. Please continue to practice blending using the mini books and games coming home from school. We continue to learn more sight words but will focus on the following for testing: a, the, and, go, had, he, I, see, has, you, we, of, in, at, to, have and is.

In math we will be working on identifying and knowing the value of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. We will also introduce counting money during our calendar time.
