Dear Parents, Students and Faculty, Did you survive September? I know I made it through with the help of many hardworking volunteers and countless diet cokes. Even though the month was filled with sorting, accounting, filing, alphabetizing, organizing and arranging, we managed to throw some fun into the mix. One way we accomplished this was with Skate Night. Although we had to compete with Utah football, soccer practices, and other commitments, Skate Night was a huge success. Our objective was to provide a night for families to come together and enjoy each other’s company. As I observed the atmosphere, everyone appeared to be relaxed and the kids seemed happy. Some school faculty and PTA board members even participated in the Hokey-Pokey. Now that’s what I call dedication. A big THANK YOU to Principal Carbaugh for giving PTA the idea for Skate Night and for all the behind the scenes work that insured a successful event. Thank you Mr. Carbaugh for supporting the PTA. Also, I appreciate the efforts made by volunteers and board members that jumped in and helped with the book parade, t-shirt sales and other various activities. We had some very creative costumes for our book parade. It was obvious that the students put a lot of thought into the competition. What a great start to Road to Success and the school year. October is packed full of the following school-wide activities: October
7th- (Weather permitting) We are celebrating National Walk to School Day
with Walk-A-Rama-Wednesday. We encourage all children and parents to walk
to school on October 7th. Each Wednesday thereafter will be a Walk-A-Rama-Wednesday.
We are trying to promote a good habits and healthy activities. Lastly, PTA is working with Upland Terrace and Community Council to promote a safer parking environment, particularly before and after school. While solutions are being worked out for a new parking plan, we can do our part to alleviate potential problems. Walking to and from school will free up traffic congestion. Other areas that will help are car pooling, not using cell phones while in school zones, not leaving cars unattended while idling, slowing down in the school zones and adjacent streets and quite simply, using common courtesy. Improvement in these areas only brings more safety to our children. A little effort - by all - goes a long way. Warm Regards, JaNeanne
