School Policies

ARRIVAL

We ask that you do not send students to school earlier then 8:25 A.M.. During inclement weather, students may enter the building and sit or stand quietly along the wall in the hall. Students should enter and exit the school through their assigned doors.

DISMISSAL

All students will be dismissed at 3:45 P.M. Monday through Thursday and 1:35 P.M. on Friday. If you need to have your child dismissed early for emergency reasons, please come to the office to sign your child out first. We will call your child to the office to meet you

MEDICATION

We are not allowed to give mediation of any kind, including aspirin, without current doctor's instruction, and written permission from the parent. Medicine brought to school MUST BE in the ORIGINAL prescription bottle with the name and a dosage recorded on it. A Medication Form must be completed and signed by the prescribing physician and by the parent before the medication can be brought to school. The medication MUST be brought to school by an adult. Medication forms are available at the front office. Patron parking is located in the front of the school by the drop off zone. The parking lot in the rear of the building is for faculty and buses ONLY.

ATTENDANCE

All children are expected to be in attendance each day unless they are ill or a family emergency arises. Please remember that a written note explaining the absence is required after a student has been absent. We realize that there will be instances when your child may be tardy, but please avoid this whenever possible. Tardiness interrupts your child’s instructional time. A note should accompany your child to explain the reason for his/her tardiness. All children who are tardy must check in at the office first before going to class.

TELEPHONES

Office telephones are for conducting school business. We ask that boys and girls cut down student phone use by remembering their homework, projects and materials; and making after school arrangements before they get to school. Students may use the phone only with teacher permission.

SCHOOL WIDE RULES-DISCIPLINE

It is necessary that children learn to develop discipline in order to further their learning. Reward activities will be held three times a year for students who do not receive a disciplinary slip during the semester. A year-end swim party will be scheduled for all students who go the 3rd semester without receiving a disciplinary slip. We ask that you discuss with your children the importance of, and need for, good behavior and a good attitude while at school. The following rules help all of us have a safe, productive environment:

  1. Students must follow directions of the adult in charge.
  2. Students must stay in assigned school areas.
  3. Fighting will not be tolerated.
  4. No name calling, cursing or teasing.
  5. Do Not bring toys or nuisances to school (no skateboards, roller blades, squirt guns, knives, matches, etc.)
  6. No snowball throwing.

Scooters, bikes, skateboards, and rollerblades are not to be used on school property.

DRESS CODE

We feel that in many instances, a student’s conduct, work habits and school attitude are directly related to the way a student is dressed. We would encourage you as parents to see that your child comes to school neatly dressed in moderate style. .

If your child becomes ill or has an accident at school, we will contact you immediately. If we cannot reach you, we will use the emergency contact information you have provided on your registration card. Please help us by making sure this information is current. Please remember that ill children cannot be kept at school.
