An Internship
involves a student in a semester long work based experience.
The internship placement is linked to a class they are currently
taking and coordinates with SEOP goals. The student is placed
in a work environment they are interested in. They work four
hours a week and learn a variety of skills that are involved
in their area of interest. Internships are for credit and
at Cottonwood are graded on a pass/fail basis. Internships
are usually unpaid, but can be paid. They can take place after
school for a 9th period credit or during the school day 7th
or 8th period. Applications can be picked up in the Career
Center. Eligibility to participate in an internship is approved
by the student's counselor and Mr. Palmer. Kristin
Garbett the Work Based Learning Specialist
will coordinate the placement and work with the students throughout
their internship.
