Jared Ian Andersen was born in the coolest year ever: 1977 (First MRI tested, Saturday Night Fever, rings discovered around Uranus, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope). He is the oldest of five siblings and grew up in the Kearns area. After graduating from Kearns High in 1995, he attended SLCC where he received his Associate of Applied Science Degree. From there, he transferred to the University of Utah where he earned his BMUS Degree in music education.

While attending the “U” two major life changes interrupted his studies. The first was a pretty tenor sax player in the marching band named Lauren Dowling. They were married after a brief courtship in June 2004. The second was a desire to join the Utah National Guard serving in the 23rd Army Band. He completed his military training at Fort Jackson, SC and the Army School of Music in Norfolk, VA, where he graduated with honors.

The newest addition to Mr. Andersen’s life was the birth of his first child in May 2008. His name is Ian and he’s the coolest little stud you’ve ever seen.

Mr. Andersen’s favorite foods are anything breakfast (pancakes, waffles, etc.), anything Café Rio (‘nuf said), anything grilled, and anything desert. Needless to say, this doesn’t help when it comes time to complete the physical fitness test for his military service. His hobbies include playing with Ian, going on dates with his wife, trying to fix up his 65 Chevy pickup, learning anything and everything about old cars, and anything and everything to do with music (especially performing). He also watches the Food Network every chance he gets, and he loves to bake (yes, I said bake. Sorry if this disappoints any of you). He is excited to be teaching here at Cyprus and hopes to retire in 30 years as a PIRATE (Aarrrrgh!).
