Mrs. Townsend decided to become a high school counselor after spending 20 years in the college admission field, first at Westminster College and more recently at Salt Lake Community College. She joined the counseling staff at Cyprus in 2001.

She grew up near Chicago, and has attended the University of Illinois, Georgia State University, the University of Utah, Westminster College, and the University of Phoenix. With her husband John Greene and 12-year-old daughter Lizzie, she enjoys hiking, mountain biking, skiing, camping and traveling.
