Ways to Prepare:
ACT & College Admissions:
Students who are interested in attending a post-secondary
institution are encouraged to register and take the ACT
(American College Test). The ACT is required for some 4-year
schools for admissions. Scores are also used for course
placement at colleges, and is factored into many merit based
scholarships.
ACT
Timeline:
Juniors
are encouraged to take the ACT during the April and June test
dates, and Seniors during the October and December exam
dates, to receive test scores prior to collegiate admissions and
scholarship deadlines. Utah's Public Universities use a student's ACT and GPA in
determining an
admissions index score,
This score is used for both admissions criteria and many merit-based
scholarships.
ACT & NCAA: Students attempting to play collegiate athletics at the Division 1,2 or 3 level must qualify through the NCAA eligibility center. NCAA will not allow high schools to send student score reports to them. Therefore, it is up to the student to get this done. If you would like your score report to go directly to the NCAA, enter the code "9999" on your ACT exam when asked for schools where you would like your score sent. If you do not list this code and choose to send the score at a later date, you will have to contact ACT and request that your score be sent and pay the corresponding fee. |
