High, here is a summary:
| PLAN -
PLAN Testing will be offered at Cyprus on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the Cyprus High Auxilliary Gym.
The PLAN is encouraged for all
college-bound Sophomore students.
PLAN is a preparatory test for the
ACT (college entrance exams).
The PLAN is paid for and taken at Cyprus. The cost of the test is $14 and can be paid to the bookkeeper or online through Cyprus' webstore. |
| PSAT
/ NMSQT - Preliminary
Scholastic Aptitude Test / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
PSAT Testing will take place on Wednesday, October
12, 2011 in the Cyprus High Auxilliary Gym.
The PSAT is encouraged for all
Juniors and advanced level Sophomore students.
PSAT is a preparatory test for the
SAT and/or ACT (college entrance exams).
The PSAT is paid for and taken at Cyprus. The cost of the test is $14 and can be paid to the bookkeeper or online through Cyprus' webstore. |
| ASVAB
- Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
ASVAB testing will take place from January
24-27, 2012 in 11th grade Social Studies
classes.
The ASVAB test at Cyprus is only
for 11th grade students.
There is no cost for this test.
The ASVAB test is given to juniors
in high school through a cooperative program between the Department of
Defense and the Department of Education. The test is offered at more than
13,000 high schools and post secondary schools in the United States. The
primary purpose of this test is not for enlistment in the military
(although the test scores can be used for military enlistment). The
primary purpose of this test is to help school counselors and students
discover where a student's basic aptitude lies.

| CRT - Criterion Referenced
Test
CRT Testing will take place near
the end of April
through the first part of May.
All students in Utah public schools
are required to take an end-of-level test. This test is call a CRT
(Criterion-Referenced Test ) or Core Test. The results are used statewide
and nationwide to assess student competencies in particular areas. The CRT
is based on the Utah Core Curriculum, or the statewide standards that
should be taught in each grade. Your child's performance on this test
contributes to our school results, which will help determine whether or
not Cyprus is meeting the standards of our nation's No Child Left Behind
Act. Results are also used to appropriate funding in areas in need of
improvement. Educators use the results on a classroom level to determine
the effectiveness of teaching strategies.
There is no cost for this test.
These tests are completed in the
following subjects: English,
Math, Science.

| CTE - Career
and Technical Education
CTE testing will take place at
the conclusion of a particular CTE class.
Utah's Skill
Certificate program provides students an opportunity to receive
instruction aligned with standards and objectives set by the state of Utah
and industry. Students receive a "skill certificate"
verifying achievement. Further information regarding CTE testing can

There is no cost for this test.

| AP
- Advanced Placement
AP Testing will take place from May
7-17, 2012.
These tests are taken at the end of
instruction in the student's AP class. Colleges and Universities
award college credit based on a student's score.
The tests are $87 each and payable to our bookkeeper either in person or online through the Cyprus Webstore.
Advanced Placement tests offered at
Cyprus include: English Language, English Literature, Calculus,
Statistics, Theory & Harmony, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, U.S.
History, U.S. Government and World History..
