Women’s Italian-American Civic League Scholarship. $1,000 scholarship for Utah 2012 high school graduate of Italian ancestry. Award based on ACT score, high school achievement, and extracurricular involvement. Paper application available in the Career Center. Deadline: February 7, 2012.

KFC Colonel’s Scholars. For seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit! GPA of 2.75, planning to enroll in a public college or university in Utah to pursue a 4-year degree, US citizen or permanent resident. Online applications accepted beginning December 1, 2011 at www.kfcscholars.orgDeadline: February 8, 2012.

George H. Hansen Fellowship.  For students planning to major in geology, environmental geology, earth and space education, or engineering geology at BYU. Brochure with application instructions is available in Career Center. Deadline: February 15, 2012.

** Utah NAME Scholarship (National Association for Multicultural Education). This scholarship is available to junior and senior high school students. Write a 500-word essay telling your story – how will you leave your mark in your society? What issue will you address, and how will you unite with others to create change?  Submite your written story electronically (in any language) to marlies.burns@schools.utah.gov. Deadline: February 15, 2012

**University of Utah Ghulam-Lauri and Zahir Scholarships for students who have experience serving and working with the Muslim community. For application, visist www.ugs.utah.edu. Deadline: February 17, 2012.

**University of Utah Larry and Gail Miller Enrichment Scholarship.  For information and paper application, see the Career Center.  This scholarship is intended to increase diversity and meet financial need.  Deadline: February 17, 2012.

Cancer Survivor Scholarship. Sponsored by the Great West Division of the American Cancer Society. Most important factors are financial need, community service and extracurricular activities, and goals.  Must be a cancer survivor to apply.  Paper applications are available in the Career Center. Deadline: February 24, 2012.

Utah CTE Scholarships.  For students who are planning to enroll in a program at one of the Utah public colleges or universities or Applied Technology Centers.  The program must be an Associate Degree (2-year) or less, with the only exception being students who plan to pursue a teaching degree in a CTE field.  Students must complete a portfolio and have a recommendation from their high school CTE teacher.  Award amounts vary depending on which college the student attends, but are generally limited to no more than 1 year tuition.  For all application forms and instructions, go to www.schools.utah.gov/cte/scholarships.html.

Buick Achievers Scholarship. For students interested in majoring in an engineering, technology, design or business field with an interest in the Automotive Industry.  Nationally, 1,100 awards will be made! To apply, visit the website www.buickachievers.com. Deadline: February 29, 2012

ACCESS Science and Math Scholarship for Women at U of U. Students who receive this $3,500 award will also participate in a 7-week summer integrated science program and will be placed in a paid laboratory research position during the Spring Semester of their freshman year. Must be a female student planning to major in a science of math related field. Deadline: March 1, 2012.

Teacher Recruitment Scholarship for Diverse Students. For diverse students who plan to attend SLCC to begin their teacher education degree.  Award will cover full-time tuition and fees as well as additional funds for books and supplies. Renewable for a second year.  Paper application available in the Career Center. Deadline: March 1, 2012.

**University of Utah Oasis of Hope Scholarship. For students with academic need, 3.5 GPA and exceptional commitment and motivation as demonstrated through leadership, service, and/or extracurricular activities. Applications will be required to apply for need-based aid using the FAFSA form.  Must be used at the U of U. For application, see www.ugs.utah.edu. Deadline: March 2, 2012.

**Ivory Homes Scholarships for University of Utah. Offered in cooperation with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, for students who have provided service working with the Latino/a community.  Deadline: March 2, 2012.

**Keys to Success Scholarship for Utah Valley University.  Any senior who has been awarded a Keys to Success Card and is planning to attend UVU is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Award amount: $1,000. Paper application available in Career Center. Deadline: March 15, 2012.

Art Department Scholarship at University of Utah. For students enrolling as Pre-Art majors at the U. Requires submission of a portfolio. Must be accepted to the university by February 1, 2012. Paper application form available in Career Center. Scholarship application deadline: March 1, 2012. Portfolio review takes place Monday, March 19.

South High Alumni Association Scholarship. For students who are direct descendants of a South High alumnus. Must be used at Salt Lake Community College. Scholarship will cover half or full tuition for one year, and can be renewed for a second year.  Paper application is available in Career Center; also online at www.slcc.edu/financialaid/scholarships/  (Hint: ask your parents whether you are a descendant of someone who attended South!)  Deadline: March 1, 2012.

Susan W. Coda Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a Utah senior girl who plans to attend college outside of Utah. Must have outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, and service. Paper applications available in Career Center. Deadline: March 1, 2012.

Utah Society of Professional Engineers Joe Rhoads Scholarship.  A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior with 3.5 or higher GPA who plans to major in engineering at an ABET-accredited engineering program in Utah. ACT composite score must be 26 or higher, with Math score of 30 or higher. Paper application available in Career Center, or can be downloaded at www.uspeonline.com. Deadline: March 15, 2012.

**Kohl’s Cares Scholarship.  For students ages 6 to 18 who have been involved in the community in a meaningful way by performing volunteer service.  This is not based on academics or financial need.  Must be nominated by an adult.  See website www.kohlskids.com to apply.  Deadline: March 15, 2012.

**Mathematics and Statistics scholarships at Utah State UniversityUSU offers a number of scholarships to students majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education. Scholarship application and information available in the Career Center.  Deadline: March 15, 2012.

**Tanner Human Rights Center 2012 Scholarship (U of U only). Must submit essay on how individuals and institutions can reduce the frequency of cyber-bullying and the harm it causes. For information and guidelines, see http://humanrights.utah.edu/scholarships/scholarships.html.  

**Youthlinc Young Humanitarian Award. For students who have performed significant humanitarian service in our community. To learn more or apply, go to www.youthlinc.org and click on “Young Humanitarian Award”. Requires essay, two recommendations, transcript, and verification of service activities, and all materials must be received by March 21, 2012. (received, not postmarked)

Jiffy Lube Teen Drivers Scholarship (for licensed drivers) Write a 500-word (or less) essay on the topic “What Drives You?” Application form and instructions are available at www.yourturn2apply.com or in the Career Center. Deadline: March 26, 2012.

Utah JumpStart Coalition/UHEAA Scholarship. For students who have completed or are currently enrolled in the Financial Literacy course required for graduation. Four awards of $1,000 will be given. Application information and forms are available online at www.utjumpstart.org. Applicants will also be required to apply for for need-based aid using the FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov). Deadline: March 30, 2012

T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan Program. For students planning to pursue a teaching degree and subsequently teach in Utah public schools.  For every year the recipient teaches following college graduation, one year of the loan is forgiven; if the recipient teaches in a Utah public school for 4 years or more, no repayment is required. Utah Association of Independent Insurance Agents (UAIIA). Students must have at least 3.0 GPA, be active in extra-curricular activities (school, church, community or work), and be pursuing a career in insurance or business.  Three awards will be given, ranging from $750 to $1000.  Paper application available in the Career Center, also online at www.uaiia.org. Deadline: March 31, 2012.

** Murray Arts Council Theater Scholarship. For students who have performed or assisted in a Murray Arts Council musical within the past ten years. For paper application and rules, see Career Center.  Deadline: March 31, 2012.

**Student-View Scholarship program.  This scholarship is awarded through a random drawing of all completed applications. Students must answer a 15-20 survey about colleges in your area. To apply, go to www.student-view.com and complete the application online.  No other requirements. Deadline: April 22, 2012.

Jiffy Lube “Your Turn Behind the Wheel” Scholarship (for Driver’s Ed students) Write a 500-word (or less) essay on the topic “What Drives You?” Application form and instructions are available at www.yourturn2apply.com or in the Career Center. Deadline: April 23, 2012.

180Medical Scholarships. For students with spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, or transverse myelitis. For application, see www.180medical.com.scholarships. Deadline: June 1, 2012.

**Paul Mitchell The School – Keys to Success Scholarship.  $1,000 scholarship for Paul Mitchell the School, for students who have received Keys to Success Cards. Requires minimum GPA of 3.0.  Application packet available in Career Center.

U.S. Bank Scholarship Program.  Awards 40 $1,000 scholarships nationwide. Winners selected at random! To apply, visit www.usbank.com/scholarship.

Scholarships for minority students and others.  Check out the HUGE list of scholarships on the website “scholarshipsaz.org”. Since this organization is based in Arizona, some of the awards are only for Arizona students – but many are available to anyone, regardless of residence.  Many are also available regardless of immigration status. The list is organized by due date, and is updated regularly.

Distinguished Young Women (formerly America’s Junior Miss).  Competition includes scholastics, interview, talent, fitness, and self-expression.  For more information or to apply online, visit www.distinguishedyw.org.
