Technology Committee Minutes
19 Nov 2008
In Attendance: C. Travis, J. Sillito, M. Virgin, J. Miller, G. Player, F. Locey, C. Stauffer, J. Thompson, C. Sundell, D. Sundell, H. Wamsley, D. Hartley, M. Loo
Money: @ $9,000 – district monies (hardware only)
@ $ unknown – school registration monies (we’re not sure of the exact amount but it should be roughly the same as last year.)
Requests:
- C. Travis requested $89 to purchase a 500Gig external hard drive to be used to back up the multitude of credit recover disks and counseling center presentations. Approved
- L. Faust requested $657 to replace her laser printer. The committee decided to make this a network printer for the counseling center. Approved.
- E. Coombs requested $2000 to purchase two spectro photo meters for use in the AP Biology class. The committee approved the purchase of one ($1000) through our funds and is going to forward the request for the second one to Trust Lands as our funds are more limited in nature.
- S. Engh requested $749 for a site license for Algebra Triple Combo. This can be used to create tests and worksheets and encompasses a wide variety of levels of classes and would be used by the entire math department as well as other departments, if desired. Approved.
- A. Quigley requested $756 for one color scanner and a color laser printer (with cartridges). This was the request that we tabled from last month with a request to review. It was changed adequately. Approved.
Information:
- Walk through for LCD, sound, and screen is now supposed to happen sometime in December. Taylorsville has taken them a LONG time to do.
- There will be training sometime in January on the district’s program for creating web pages (Portal). It has a lot of GREAT features. We would have to attend a required training but you should be able to leave the training with a functional web page ready to be used. If we use this program, we will be able to maintain our own web pages and Jeff will not be overwhelmed with them. There would be a stipend for attending. Further information to follow.
