Here is the career center staff to serve you:
KHS Counseling CornerEVENTS! EVENTS! EVENTS!The Career Center is open to all students and can be an abundant source of career information. The computers will be available for academic use before school, during lunch and after school. With the Granite Technical Institute, opportunities for career development are endless. See Mr. Hansen for details. We are looking forward to providing all of our students time in the Career Center to acquaint them with all of the many resources offered. All students will have an opportunity to tour the Career Center and take an Interest/Aptitude Inventory through their History class. Seniors are encouraged to drop in often and use the “Choices” program and other resources for researching colleges/post-secondary education, finding potential scholarships, writing essays and resumes, practicing for the ACT exam, and just exploring options. The Counselors have been busy with Break-Out Sessions for the seniors, juniors, and sophomores. Information is provided for graduation credits, credit make-up classes, ACT & PSAT registration, and Scholarship information. GTI OfferingsThe Department of Career and Technical Education in Granite School District has a well-earned reputation for providing high quality programs that are targeted at industries that have a high demand for the future. To further this focus Granite School District will be opening a new high tech facility, The Granite Technical Institute, that will focus on three major areas: Engineering Technology, Health Science Technology, and Information Technology. The mission of the Granite Technical Institute is to help students
achieve and to move seamlessly to further training and employment. This
will be accomplished by directly aligning critical academics with career
and technical education courses promoting real world application to
the academic theory of mathematics, science and English. In addition,
articulation and collaboration with Salt Lake Community College and
other post-secondary institutions will be enhanced making the transition
into further education seamless for students. Clear pathways of training
have been designed to support student growth from the 10th through the
12th grades. Courses to be offered during the 2008/09 school year can
be found on the district's web page. |
