Academic Graduation Requirements

Graduation requires successful completion of 27 academic units in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 as follows:

English 4 units
Mathematics 2 units
Science 2 units
Social Studies 3 units
The Arts 1.5 units
Health 0.5 units
Physical Education 1.5 units
Vocational Education 1 unit
Elective units 11.5 units
TOTAL: 27 units

Failed Classes

Due to increased graduation requirements, great care should be taken to avoid failure of required classes. Any failure must be made up and credit earned. English and Social Studies must be made up at night school. Credit from sources outside of the day school program is awarded on the basis of 0.25 credits for 36 hours of class work.

Limitations on Credit

A student may not receive credit for a repeat of a class for which credit has already been received. Students cannot receive credit in any course with lower proficiency requirements than a course in the same are for which credit has already been received.  A limit of one credit for service as an aide or similar duties can be earned during grades 10, 11,  and 12.  Related work based credit to a maximum of four units will be accepted toward graduation.  The total credit which can be applied toward high school graduation from an accredited adult high school, home study, special courses, or any combination of these is four units.  Of these, only one credit may be obtained from home study.
