Course Descriptions

  • 61300 FITNESS FOR LIFE
    10 SEMESTER
    This course is designed to help each student become involved in and adopt a personal lifestyle of regular physical fitness. Specifically, students will identify and understand all of the components of fitness, including weight control, nutrition, and stress management. The focus is on each student being involved in activities for fitness and applying and assessing heart rate (training zone), caloric expenditure, activity intensity and duration, and the benefits derived therefrom.
  • 61500 LIFETIME SPORTS
    11-12 SEMESTER
    This course of lifetime activities enables students to acquire basic knowledge of and skills in a variety of lifetime activities which contributes to sustained fitness and well-being. In addition, such skills and activities offer positive ways to cope with stress and contribute to the quality of life not only as a student, but as a future adult as well.

    This course is the basic introduction to weight training. It is designed to enhance fitness through body weight based exercise, free weights and resistance weights.

    Weight lifting techniques designed for athletes for sport specific training.
  • 62040 BOYS WEIGHT TRAINING 2 (BASKETBALL)
    10-12 SEMESTER
    TEACHER APPROVAL REQUIRED!
    This course is an advanced weight training course specifically targeted for basketball. It will only be taught 7th period. Must be a member of the basketball team.

    Weight lifting techniques designed for athletes for sport specific training.
  • 62060 WEIGHT TRAINING 2
    (FOOTBALL PLAYERS)
    10-12 YEAR
    TEACHER APPROVAL REQUIRED!
    This is an advanced weight training course specifically targeted for football. Must be a member of the football team.
  • 62210 SWIMMING 1
    10-12 SEMESTER
    This swimming class is designed to teach basic swimming strokes, stroke development, diving, and life saving activities. Does not fulfill Fitness for Life requirement for sophomores.
  • 62220 SWIMMING 2 - LIFEGUARD TRAINING
    10-12 SEMESTER
    FEE: $20.00 FOR MASK
    This American Red Cross sponsored class allows students to get certified in CPR and lifeguard training. Must pass pre-screen swim test on 1st day!
  • 62250 VARSITY SWIM TEAM/CO-ED
    10-12 YEAR
    SIGNATURE OF VARSITY COACH REQUIRED
    If you have advanced swimming skills and are interested in joining the swim team, this class is for you. 2nd semester will be Water Polo. Does not fulfill Fitness for Life requirement for sophomores.
  • 62300 AEROBIC STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
    11-12 SEMESTER
    Offered to junior and senior students who will receive P.E. credit. This class will be a 60 minute workout including the following: pre-cardiovascular warm-up, cardiovascular peak work, standing exercise with weights, lower body isolations with weights and flexibility work. Heart rate monitoring will be done. Class ends with stress management.
  • 62350 AQUA AEROBICS
    11-12 SEMESTER
    This class is ideal for those who prefer a non-impact workout. This class will involve and focus on cardiovascular and muscle toning, and interval training. Heart rate monitoring will be done.
  • 63300 CHEERLEADING
    10-12 YEAR
