Dear Olympus Football Parents,
On behalf of the Olympus Football staff I would like to welcome you to the Olympus Football Program. It is a pleasure to have you and your son as a part of the program and we truly hope you will be a positive supporter of the program.
I would encourage you to become an active member of the Parent Association. The Parent Association has been a driving force at our school in the past. Only your assistance can insure the continued support of the Parent Association in the future. In a time of shrinking budgets the significance of your support cannot be over estimated.
I would also encourage you to get to know one another. It has been my experience that a good rapport among parents leads to a good rapport among players. A strong camaraderie among players can only enhance our team's chances for success. In the past, positive parent support for Olympus football has been exceptional; pre-game meals, Camp Titan, field painting, snack shack, and the football banquet are some examples of their support. The special things parents do for the program mean a great deal to the players and coaches.
As proud parents of Olympus football players, I hope you will represent Olympus positively by sitting together at the games and not only cheer for your son but for the sons of all the parents who are making the same commitment and sacrifice you are.
As a head coach, I am aware that there are times when parents have concerns. If you have a concern regarding the program or if I can assist you in anyway, I encourage you to contact me. A parental concern raised to any good administrator will be referred back to the source for resolution. We can then schedule a time to meet and resolve the concern.
Please keep in mind high school football is a highly competitive sport and the emphasis does shift from participation to competition. Those players who abide by the rules, work hard, and put our team in the best situation to be successful will see the majority of the action. Obviously natural ability plays a major part in this selection. We do feel, as a staff, that since we are with our players everyday in practice and have the opportunity to see them perform not only in games but also on film and in practice, we are in the best position to evaluate performance and effort. Academic performance and proper demeanor, on and off campus, can play a major part in our evaluation of players. Regardless of how a player begins the season there is always the opportunity to compete for playing time throughout the football season.
Again welcome to the program, I look forward to seeing you at the football games.
Sincerely,
Coach Mark S. Smith
