Today's U.S. Military branches offer great training, education, and educational financing programs that all students are advised to be aware of. Many of the branches/options may be contacted at the following web sites:
ROTC Programs
The military offers one, two, and four year scholarships. Applicants are selected based on grades, SAT or ACT scores, and extracurricular activities. These scholarships pay for tuition, books, fees and give the recipients $200 cash for living expenses each month at the student's chosen college or university where there is an ROTC program.
Academies
Students who are interested in attending one of the military academies must complete a fairly complex appointment process beginning in the junior year. Candidates for one of the military academies are nominated to these programs and the sooner you begin, the better your chances are of receiving full consideration.
The first step in securing an appointment to one of the academies is to write to one of them and request a Pre-Candidate Questionnaire. By writing you will receive a full packet of information, including dates and deadlines throughout the process.
