Scholarships for Olympus Students Only
All
"Olympus Only" applications are available from Mrs. Sullivan in
the Counseling Center in March. These are due in mid-April. WATCH FOR DEADLINES!
These awards are given by generous people in the Olympus High School community
and are available ONLY to Olympus students. They will be awarded at the Senior
Service Awards Banquet in the spring.
CHAMBERLAIN
SWIMMING AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who has lettered on the Varsity Swim Team. Student
must not be getting any other scholarships, and must show evidence of good
sportsmanship and leadership. Recommendation by the swim coach is required.
CHRIS
LISTON "IT'S ALL GOOD" AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating seniors with a high interest in the arts, especially
in drawing or computer animation, who plans to study this field in school
and is not receiving any other scholarships.
CHRISTENSEN
CONCERTO AWARD
Value: $1000
(Concerto and Performing Arts)
Criteria: Graduating senior who shows outstanding talent on a musical instrument
and be recommended by Mr. Ashton or Ms. Belnap.
CHRISTENSEN VISUAL ARTS AWARD
Value:
$1000 (Visual and Fine Arts)
Criteria: Graduating senior who shows outstanding talent in the area of visual
arts and is
recommended by Mrs. Bullough or Mrs. Stafford.
COMMUNITY OF CARING "SERVICE LEARNING" SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who has contributed a minimum of 100 hours of service in the community, NOT including high school activities. Hours must be documented.
COUNSELOR'S CHOICE AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who is NOMINATED by the Olympus counselors for academics, citizenship and financial need.
DANIEL HOLLADAY MEMORIAL
Value: $1500
Criteria: Graduating senior who can show in essay form what they have done
to inspire others. "What kinds of things do YOU do to inspire
others to do their best?" (a one page essay is required)
DAVID FAIRBOURN CLASS OF "67"ALUMNI AWARD
Value: $1000
Criteria: Graduating senior who has a high GPA and CPA, who has shown community involvement with service and is also involved in SBO activities with the class of 2008.
GEORGE
BARTON HONOR AWARD
Value: $2500 (computer)
Criteria: Graduating senior in the top 5% of their class, and who is planning
on going OUT OF STATE to attend college.
GEORGIA MARRIOTT MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $2000 ($1000 female and $1000 male)
Criteria: Graduating senior male and female student with a high interest in music and in the field of the perfoming arts. Audition for this award is required.
GRANATO
SERVICE AWARD
Value: $1000
Criteria: Graduating senior who can show a significant amount of personal
service to the Olympus community.A minumum of 300 hours must ve completed
during the same year. This does NOT include school activities.
GRANITE FOUNDATION SERVICE AWARD
Value: $500 to $1000
Criteria: Graduating seniors who qualify for one of four different scholarships offered through the Granite Foundation.
1. Service Scholar: Senior who completes 100 hours of service during their high chool career and shows a great financial need.
2. Diverse Student: Senior who is a minority student and shows a great financial need and is planning on a teacher career in the Granite District.
3. Art Scholar: Senior who has an interest in Art and also shows a great financial need.
4. Financial Need Scholar: Senior who shows a critcal financial need to attend college with no other resources. Must write a 500 word essay.
"HANDS, HEART & MIND SERVICE AWARD
Value: $1000 ($500 Female and $500 Male)
Criteria: Graduating male and female senior who have shown personal incentive in giving volunteer service to someone with special needs on a consistent basis.
HARKNESS
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Value: $5OO
Criteria: Graduating Senior with high academic, high citizenship, and many
extra-curricular activities. Must also show special needs to enable college
attendance.
JOYCE
BASKIN MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $2000 ($1000 each to two students)
Criteria: Graduating senior who has a high GPA and CPA and has excelled in
the area of English. Students must write an essay stating their reasons for
wanting and needing this award and also their educational intentions.
KYLE
THORNTON MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $1000
Criteria: Graduating senior with an interest and desire for a career in the
visual arts and is not receiving any other scholarships.
MICHAEL
CARTER MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $1200
Criteria: Graduating senior who is planning on pursuing an education in the
field of math or science, becoming a teacher, and also attending S.U.U.
OLYMPUS
SPIRIT AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who is nominated by the Olympus
administration for showing tremendous school spirit and enthusiasm throughout
the year.
RICHARD CORNELIUS MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $1000
Criteria: Graduating senior who has overcome a significant challenge in his or her life. An essay is required.
ROBERT BRYAN MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduationg senior who has participated in Water Polo or on the Olympus High Varsity Swim Team.
ROBERT HATCH MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $2000 ($1000 female and $1000 male)
Criteria: Graduating senior male and female student involved in athletics with a desire to contunue their career in athletics.
SCOT HODSON FELLER MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who has shown a great increase in their GPA from 10th to 12th grade and plans to further their education in college.
STEVEN
MAGLEBY MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior who has and interest in humanitarian service.
They must write an essay of 500 words, describing humanitarian needs and views
on a world-wide basis.
S.U.U THUNDERBIRD ALUMNI AWARD
Value: Full year tuition at Southern Utah University ($3000)
Criteria: Graduating senior with a high GPA and CPA whou is planning on a teaching career and acceptied to SUU.
VEENENDAAL
AWARD (George's Plastics)
Value: $500
Criteria: Graduating senior with high GPA, CPA, extra-curricular activities
and can show special needs to enable college attendance.
"SILVER
TITAN" AWARD
Value: $5,000
Criteria: Graduating senior who has achieved excellence in English and Social
Studies, has participated in extra curricular activities and can show special
needs. Student must have at least a 3.5 GPA, 3.5 CPA, and excellent attendance.
DAVID B. PEDERSON MEMORIAL AWARD
Value: $10,000 shared with 10 students of $1000 each
Criteria: Graduating senior who has overcome a significant adversity in his or her life, has struggled with an addiction and overcome it, is currently drug free, has shown the ability to help and assist others, has shown an increase in their GPA and CPA and a written essay as to why they are deserving of this award
