UBSCT -- Utah Basic Skills Competency Test – more information
What is it?
In 1999, the Utah State Legislature called for the construction and implementation of a basic skills competency test. All students will need to pass all 3 sections of the test (Writing, Math and Reading) in order to receive a "basic high school diploma."
When is this test given?
Students take the UBSCT test for the first time in February of their sophomore year. Students have 4 more opportunities prior to graduation to retake any section they do not pass this first time in October and February of both their junior and senior year.
How do I know if I passed?
A score of 160 or higher is required to pass each section of the UBSCT test. We receive the results approximately 8 weeks after the test date. Below are a few links students can go to get some help on UBSCT tests. Some of these sites offer prep classes/programs.
