Tenor-Bass Chorus 1-6 (grades 10-12) (1810)
This course develops student vocal skills through study and performance of music arranged for changing tenor and bass voices while helping students understand and cope with the change that occurs in male voices during adolescence. Experience with the close harmonies typical of tenor-bass music helps prepare students for more advanced choir experiences, and special attention is given to reading musical notation. This class is recommended for but not restricted to sophomores. Prerequisite: Teacher approval.


Soprano-Alto Chorus 1-6 (grades 10-12) (1820)
This class provides opportunities for the development of singing skills through the study and performance of music written for alto and soprano voices with emphasis placed on attaining greater vocal maturity through the application of correct principles of voice production, breath control and diction. Special attention is given to reading musical notation. This class is recommended for but not restricted to sophomores. Prerequisite: Teacher approval.

Junior Choir 1-4 (grades 10-12) (1830)
This class is designed for eleventh grade students (but not limited to them) who desire to continue specializing in vocal music. Course content focuses on correct vocal production, more sensitive musicianship, increased ability to read musical notation and a deeper understanding of the music of great choral composers. Prerequisite: Teacher approval.

Concert Choi r 1-4 (grades 10-12) (1850)
Often called the A’Cappella choir, this course is the most advanced choir of the school. Members are expected to meet higher vocal and musical standards than those of other vocal groups and must commit to attend all rehearsals and programs scheduled by the director. Classwork and content are increased, and music demanding more maturity of voice quality and more refined musicianship are sung with attention to the improvement of music reading ability and understanding of mood, form and style in choral music. Prerequisite: Successful audition and/or teacher approval.

Madrigal Singers 1-4 (grades 10-12) (1860)
The school's madrigal choir is made up of 16-28 advanced vocal students who are anxious to learn madrigals and other vocal ensemble music, which usually demands greater vocal maturity, precision and alertness. Ability to blend tone is even more important in this ensemble than in other choirs, and the development of vocal independence and musical sensitivity are emphasized. Members must be aware of the commitment to attend all rehearsals and programs scheduled by the director. Experience and skill required for this class is well above that of entry-level choir classes. Enrollment in a large choir is strongly encouraged as this class moves beyond the traditional realms of music. Therefore, a continued reinforcement of fundamental skills is essential. prerequisite: Successful audition and/or teacher approval.

Graces (Women’s Ensemble)

A select women’s ensemble made up of 25 members. Many opportunities for performances are available, and students must be aware of the commitment to attend
