School Dress Code Policy

Olympus Jr. High has a standardized dress code. Please refer to the information below for our policies regarding student dress.

Pants, Skirts, Leggings, Overalls, Jumpers, Shorts

Color - Navy blue, fatigue green, khaki (tan) and white
Fabric - Twill, cotton, or knit. No sweats or athletic shorts.
No jeans except on Friday.
No logos larger than a quarter. Olympus Jr. and Olympus Sr. High logos are acceptable.
No bagging or sagging pants. Shorts, dresses, and skirts must not be more than 3" above the knee.

Shirts, Sweaters, Cardigans, Sweatshirts, Vests

Color - Any solid color - entire shirt must be the same color, including collar.
Fabric - Twill, cotton or knit.
No logos larger than a quarter. Olympus Jr. and Olympus Sr. High logos are acceptable.
Shirts must not be worn too low in front or show the midriff. No tank tops or spaghetti straps.

Fridays

Friday will be jeans Friday. Shirts must be solid color same as the rest of the week. Jeans must be dress code colors for pants.

Tops and bottoms must be different colors – example – cannot be navy blue top and navy blue bottoms worn together.
These guidelines are in effect not only for the classroom but the entire campus during school hours.

Consequences
1. Verbal warning and change clothes.
2. Two lunch detentions and parent contact.
3. Three lunch detentions and parent contact.
4. Suspension

The dress policy applies to all students. Clothing and appearance must be safe, clean, modest, and non-disruptive to the learning environment. It is expected that parents, students and staff will support the school in providing an environment where students can focus on academic learning.

WHAT CAN I WEAR OR NOT WEAR?

In accordance with this philosophy and district policy which mandates that dress be “.....stylish, modest, and clean,” the minimum dress standards at Olympus Junior High School stipulate the following:


• NO tank tops, halters, or other abbreviated clothing (bare midriffs). Girls’ shirts must be modest in the depth of the neckline.
• NO hats, bandannas or scarves.
• NO shirts or sweat shirts to be worn inside out.
• NO distracting clothing (for example, birthday outfits, tiaras).
• NO torn clothing.
• NO camouflage fabric, medical scrubs, pajamas, or sweat pants.
• NO team shorts, team pants, team sweat bottoms, including Olympus Junior or Olympus High
• Students may wear the team uniform top on game day only as long as it meets dress code.
• NO sagging (wearing pants below the waistline); or baggy (more that the “Rule of Twos” which means only two finger widths between waist and pants.)
• NO printing or graphics are allowed on any type of clothing, except for the approved Olympus Junior High School or Olympus High School logos. Logos must be smaller than a quarter.
• NO gym shorts, or visible underwear.
• NO slippers. Shoes have to be worn as a pair.
• NO trench coats or bulky outer wear. Coats or jackets must be kept in lockers during school hours.
• NO pocket chains of any type. Belts must be looped through the belt loops and not hang.
• NO shorts, dresses, or skirts shorter than three inches above the knee.
• NO backpacks (including string backpacks) or over the arm bag. All backpacks and bags must be kept in lockers during the school day.Dress Code Image

The administration reserves the right to amend the
dress code and any or all articles in the student handbook.

Consequences
1st Offense - Verbal warning and change clothes.
2nd Offense - Two lunch detentions and parent contact.
3rd Offense - Three lunch detentions and parent contact.
4th Offense - Suspension
