How can I get a message to my student during school?

How does a student get excused after being absent?

A. Student must bring a legibly written note signed by the parent to the Attendance Office before school starts the first day back to school after the absence. Student number MUST be on the note. If the student's last name is different from the parent's last name, please include the student's first and last name on the note.

How do I get homework for my student who has been absent?

A. . For the first and second days absences, the student is to call his/her "study buddy" in each class for assignments missed. On the third day, the student's parent may call the Attendance Office (385-646-5244) before 9:30 a.m., and homework sheets will be sent to academic classes. Homework may then be picked up as soon as school is out.

How do I get my student released from school early?

A. A student may be released early with parental permission only. The student must bring a note, signed by the parent, to Mrs. Leavitt in the Attendance Office before school starts. A street pass will then be issued. If the student returns to school, he/she must check in at the Attendance Office before returning to class.

Why did I receive a phone call telling me my student missed one or more classes that day when I know my student was in class or was excused?

A. Every student that has been marked absent (whether excused or unexcused), throughout the school day will receive a call from our automatic phoning system informing you that your student missed one or more classes that day.

The only time a parent needs to call Mrs. Leavitt in the Attendance Office (385-646-5247) is if the parent is unaware of the student's absence. In other words, if you have had your student excused from school for some reason, or if the student is excused for a field trip, the phone system will still call. If you are aware of this absence, there is no need to call the Attendance Office.
