Library Rules

The students, faculty, and staff of Brockbank Junior High share the responsibility of maintaining an envrionment which allows the Media Center to serve the needs of all. Patrons are expected to maintain a quiet and courteous atmosphere and to respect the rules of the school as well as those specifically to the Media Center.
Two specific rules in the library are:

No food, drink, or gum are allowed in the library.

A quiet courteous atmosphere must be maintained.


Students who fail to meet their responsibilities in the library, will be asked to leave. Severe disturbance or repeated offenses are dealt with by the principal. If necessary, parents will be notified about student behavior.

 

Hours

The Media Center opens at 7:20 A.M. and closes at 3:30 P.M. The Media center is occasionally closed for meetings. No passes are required before or after school. During class time, an official pass or note is required. Only three students per teacher are allowed without the teacher scheduling the Media Center.

Checking Out Materials

All materials are checked out at the circulation desk on the computer.


BOOKS: Students are allowed to borrow materials for a period of fourteen days. Materials may be renewed twice unless requested by another person, or if the patron has overdue books or outstanding fines.
REFERENCE MATERIAL: Encyclopedias and all other reference material are restricted to use in the library.
PERIODICALS: Periodicals (magazines) can be checked out for 14 days.


All patrons are responsible for any books or magazines checked out in their names. Please alert the librarian to any special circumstances.

 

Goals of the Media Center are to:

-provide a collection of instructional materials that support and contribute to the curriculum.


-provide materials and reference services for the completion of class assignments, homework, and for individual personal growth.

-provide a pleasant environment for the pursuit of both personal and educational growth.

 

Returning Materials

Materials may be returned by placing them in the book drop at the circulation counter or at the door if the Media Center is closed.

 

Fines

Student patrons will be assessed fines as follows for overdue materials: Students with fines cannot checkout books until the fine is paid.


REGULAR LOAN: $.10 per day for each school day overdue.
OVERNIGHT LOAN: $.10 per day for each school day overdue.
