Hours – Students are allowed
to be in the cafeteria area from
7:00 am until 7:30 am. Students must exit the building by 3:00 pm, unless they
are under the direct supervision of an adult employee.
Buses – Buses are for those of you who
live two or more miles from the school. The bus is for your convenience. The
driver is in charge and must have full cooperation from you. If you abuse the
privilege of riding the bus, or have behaviors that endanger the lives of your
fellow students, you will have your bus privilege revoked.
Granite District Regulations Governing
1) Pupils shall be on time for the bus both morning
& evening – in the morning, five (5) minutes before the bus is due but no
earlier. Buses will leave school in the afternoon according to the following
schedule: Junior High – 8 minutes after the bell.
2) Pupils shall remain seated while the bus is
in motion.
3) The bus driver may assign pupils seats.
4) The bus driver shall instruct pupils how to
cross the road.
5) Pupils shall not extend their hands, arms, or
heads through bus windows.
6) Pupils must have written permission from
parent/guardian signed by the principal to leave the bus other than at home or
school.
7) Pupils should converse in normal tones; loud,
vulgar language is prohibited.
8) Pupils shall not open or close windows
without permission of the driver.
9) The emergency door shall be opened only in
cases of emergency.
10) Pupils
shall keep the bus clean and must refrain from damaging it.
11) Pupils shall be courteous to the driver,
fellow pupils and passers-by.
12) For everyone’s safety no item shall be
carried on the bus that could create a hazard to any passenger; including but
not limited to; live animals, skateboards, skis, glass objects, etc.

You must remain on campus
during the school day, including lunchtime. We discourage your parents/guardians from taking you for lunch during
school hours. Additional areas considered off campus are behind the gyms and
portable classrooms, the parking lots, and the church property, except for
students going to and from seminary classes. If you are off campus without
permission during school hours, you will be considered truant. Students
from other schools coming on school property will be considered trespassing.
Excuse notes “after the fact” will not be accepted. You must have a street pass
to leave the school campus.

You are not permitted in the halls during class periods unless you are
accompanied by a teacher or have a hall pass from a teacher (orange vest). You
are not to request a hall pass unless it is an emergency situation.

are encouraged to take advantage of the school lunch program. However, you are
welcome to bring a sack lunch. Cafeteria food must be consumed in the cafeteria
and court yard area. Vending machines are also available to you. Food from a
machine must be consumed in the cafeteria area also.

three types of school absences are as follows:
1) Excused
Absence – excused absence
include the following: illness, medical emergencies, death of a family member,
close friend, or family activity or travel, consistent with district/school
policy with a note or phone call from the parent or guardian. A parent may
excuse up to 7 full school days a year.
2) Unexcused
Absences – Unexcused
absences are absences not authorized by state law or by school or district
policy but occur with parental knowledge or consent.
3)
Truancy Absence – Truancy absences are absences that occur
without school or parental approval. A teacher or administration determines the
consequences for a truancy absence. (Sluff-cutting class)

Citizenship Grade – The citizenship grade includes behavior,
attendance, punctuality and adherence to the rules and policies of the school.
In addition to the academic grades, the following citizenship grades will be
rewards:

tolerated and will be dealt with as a severe case. The consequences may include

Clothing promoting drugs, tobacco, alcohol, or inappropriate illustrations or

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT ALLOWED AT BROCKBANK
JR. HIGH:
1. Clothing and
hairstyles that are deemed as conspicuous, hazardous, extreme, draws attention,
or tends to disrupt or interfere with the learning atmosphere at school.
2. Vulgar, indecent,
obscene or insulting slogans, profanity, sexually explicit, physical violence
(including professional wrestling) and advertisement or symbols for alcohol,
tobacco, drugs and/or drug paraphernalia, gangs, or anything (messages,
pictures, cartoons, etc.) that promotes disrespectful attitudes are prohibited
on any clothing.
3. Numbers or words
on clothing that are deemed inappropriate, have a double meaning, or are gang
related, (Salt Lake Area Gang Project), will not be tolerated. (e.g. letter X,
numbers 69, 4:30, 13, 14, 8:40, 05, 31, 41, FUBU & PLAYERS, WWF, Taggers,
“dawg-e-dawg”, 8-ball, “Smile Now, Cry Later”, Low Rider, Player 69, Big
Johnson, ICP)
4. Promotion of the
superiority of one group over another is not allowed on clothing.
(e.g. Tongan Pride,
La Raza, Axteca, White Pride, KKK, Brown Pride)
5. See through
clothing or holes in clothes must NOT be worn. Fabric must be thick enough so
it cannot be seen through. Fishnet type clothing is not allowed.
6. Underwear is to
remain true to its name (worn under regular clothing.) (No boxers etc. may be
worn over regular clothing.)
7. Student may not
rely on coats, jackets, sweaters, hoodies as a means to complying with the
dress code. (Covering up clothing that does not comply with the dress code)
8. Gang Apparel – as
determined by the Salt Lake Area Gang Project.
9. Clothing or
attire that presents a distraction is not allowed.
10. Capes, costumes,
distracting prints, clothing related to vampires/occult are not allowed.
11. Florescent
clothing, jewelry, pacifiers, or other items associated with the use of drugs
are not allowed.
12. Safety Pins may
only be worn to correct a problem with your clothing. They are not allowed to
be worn as a form of decoration. (Safety issue)
13. Shoes and
sandals must be worn at all times. Socks only and bare feet are not allowed.
14. Chains of any
size or length are not to be worn at school.
15. Make up, body
piercing, tattoos or jewelry which presents a safety hazard is not allowed.
Body The body is to be kept clean
and free of ink.
Body Piercing and tattooing by students, at school is not allowed.
Head
No hats, beanies,
baseball caps, visors, sunglasses, ear phones, extreme hairstyles.
Tops/shirts/blouses * Shirts/Tops and blouses must have sleeves.

Fighting, Threatening, Intimidating, Assault,

Fighting will not be tolerated at school, on the way to or from school,
at any school function, or at school-sponsored activities. This will result in
immediate parent contact and administrative action, which will include
suspension from school and possible referral to the appropriate police agency
and district referral. People who promote, instigate, or encourage fighting
will also be deemed responsible and subject to disciplinary actions. Any
conflict off school grounds, which is determined to have an effect at school.
You are expected to get along with one another and settle differences and
disputes in other ways than fighting. You may want to get assistance from a
teacher, counselor or other school adult with this conflict. Fighting,
threatening, intimidating, including
snowball throwing at school or at school related activities are prohibited.
Injuries, damages, and medical costs
associated with fighting are you and your parent’s responsibility.

It is the policy of Granite district to maintain learning and working
environment, free from sexual and racial harassment or any verbally or
physically abusive actions. Remarks that embarrass or humiliate are not
appropriate. Policy is violated if any student or employee harasses another
student or school employee through conduct or communication. You should tell
the administration, a teacher or counselor if you feel you have been harassed.
All complaints will be investigated and disciplinary procedures will be
followed if needed.
Sexual Harassment – is defined as: any verbal, written, or
physical conduct of a sexual nature which has the purpose or effect of creating
an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment or unreasonably interferes
with a person’s work or academic performance. Sexual Harassment includes, but
is not limited to, the following: derogatory, demeaning, or offensive jokes,
teasing, or comments of a sexual nature. Graphic remarks or sexual comments
about an individual’s body. Sexually suggestive or obscene telephone calls,
letters, notes, or invitations, Sexually suggestive or obscene pictures,
cartoons, posters, or objects. Grabbing, pinching, or touching of private
areas. Deliberate cornering, shouldering, or bumping in hallways. Sexual gestures, unwanted pats, or hugs, any
inappropriate touching. Any form of sexual threat, intimidation, or
exploitation. Actual or attempted sexual assault, molestation, or rape. Sexist
remarks or gender-based stereotyping. Offensive physical pranks, such as
pantsing of students or mooning.
Inappropriate Gestures/Language – Any indecent gesture, foul language, act of
lewdness, or indecent exposure is contrary to the ideals and standards of the
school. The

Items which are unsafe and disruptive to the school environment and are
easily stolen or lost are prohibited. Items such as weapons, slingshots or other projectile devices or facsimile will
be referred to law enforcement officials. Other items such as: cigarette lighters, matches, laser
pens, Frisbees, fireworks, pagers, cell
phones, elastic bands, water toys and guns, hardballs, skateboards, roller blades, scooters, or other similar things are
not allowed at school. Personal items such as electronic games, CD Players, ipods and devices are prohibited at
school. We discourage you from bringing any items of value to school such as:
baseball cards, irreplaceable photographs, large
amounts of money, etc. The school is not responsible for lost or stolen
items, even if they are stored in gym or hall lockers. (Items confiscated by teachers or administrators from you will be
returned to your parent/guardian only.)

environment and are prohibited.

It is important to remind you, your parents, and your guardians that aggressive behavior on school grounds
will not be tolerated. This includes: physical abuse, gang activity,
intimidation, threats, harassment, any type of criminal behavior, vandalism,
and the use or possession of weapons or facsimile weapons, pagers, and cellular
phones. Furthermore, the possession of alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, or any
illegal item or substance at school also violates Safe School Policy. Being
involved in such activities may result in immediate suspension from school and
referral to the District Safe School Review Committee and a Police referral.
