Holy cow, what's a CONNECTION?

CONNECTIONS are the normal homework assignments that I give. Normally there will be anywhere form 3-6 due each term. It will depend on what we are studying and how fast we are moving. Due dates for CONNECTIONS can be found on the page for your grade.

What is a CONNECTION?

The point of a CONNECTION is for the student to see that what we are studying is class is important outside of class. I want the students to recoginize when they experience something outside of class that relates to what we are doing in class. If we are studying earthquakes in class and there is an earthquake in California I want them to realize that they should know why earhtquakes happen there. If we are studying endangered species and on the news they see that a group wants the wolf to be taken off the list I want them to realize what that means. I want to students to find CONNECTIONS to class outside of class.

What do I have to do?

There is a worksheet that the student needs to fill out and turn in. Click here to download one.

Where can I find a CONNECTION?

CONNECTIONS can come from the TV news, books students are reading for fun or for other classes, TV shows, movies, newspapers, internet, or magazines. Where it comes from is less important than how it connects to class. Here are some good sites CNN, Deseret News, National Geographic, or Marco Polo
