Course Description:
7th grade reading is a class designed
to assist students who are reading below grade level to improve their decoding,
fluency and comprehension and so improve their ability to be successful in
school and life. Learning activities include silent and oral reading, fluency
drills, vocabulary drills, comprehension strategies and other reading
activities.
Materials:
Pen/pencils
and a spiral bound notebook
Accelerated Reader book every day
Class Rules:
1.
Show
respect by what you do and say.
2.
Clean
up your own mess.
3.
Come
prepared to work.
4.
Leave
toys (anything you play with) outside.
5.
Follow
adult directions within 5 seconds.
Theater Rules: If our
class is taught in the Little Theater special rules apply:
1.
Do
not go on stage unless directed to do so by the adult in charge.
2.
Treat
seats, floors, walls, props, curtains, etc. with respect.
Grades: Your class grade will be determined by the

Accelerated
Reader: Accelerated
Reader (AR) books are available in the library at your child’s reading
level. Each student is expected to read
for the first 15-25 minutes of every class from an AR book. After finishing a book the student takes a
quiz on it and receives points toward activities. AR points also count on their grades. Your student is responsible for checking the
book out on his own time.
